Manager José Mourinho has confirmed that defender Filipe Luis will be leaving the club in the next few days. The South American defender joined the club only last season for around £ 16 million.

It was a strange signing by the blues, as they opted to bring in the 29-year-old as a reserve left back. After having been used to regular first-team football during his time at Atletico Madrid, it was not surprising to seeLuis being linked with a return to the Spanish capital. Talks have been progressing over the last few weeks and it is believed that Atletico have struck an agreement with Chelsea.

Mourinho says that the transfer is expected to be concluded in the next few days. Hence, the blues will be in the market for a new left back. There is plenty of time left for the transfer window too close. However, Mourinho will want to a replacement as soon as possible. Atletico were initially not willing to pay the £ 16 million that they received for the defender. Now, it appears that a deal has been reached. Further, Chelsea are looking to sell winger Mohamed Salah who arrived at the club only last January for around £ 12 million. He spent much of last season at Fiorentina.

"In this moment we need a left-back because I think we are selling Filipe Luis now or Wednesday, but I think we will sell Filipe Luis.We need to go the market, we need to find a club that accepts a bid until August 31, and we are going for a left-back. In other positions we have no space," said the Chelsea boss ahead of the pre-season friendly matches. Chelsea have been linked with an offer for Augsburg left-back Baba Rahman, who will cost around £ 15 million.
