NEW CHELSEA SIGNING KOULIBALY HANDED JOHN TERRRY’S LEGENDARY 26 SHIRT

New Chelsea signing Kalidou Koulibaly will wear John Terry’s iconic No.26 shirt during the remainder of his club’s pre-season fixtures. The former Napoli centre-half flew to America last week to complete the formalities of his eagerly anticipated transfer from the Serie A club and was in contention to make his non-competitive debut against Charlotte. Terry’s old number has been out of action since his departure at the end of the 2016/17 season but Koulibaly, who wore the same number during his time at Napoli, will have it on his back this evening.

Chelsea confirmed, however, that it could only be a temporary measure while also revealing that Raheem Sterling will wear No.17 for the remainder of the tour. Conor Gallagher, meanwhile, who spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, has been given the No.15 shirt while he battles to convince Thomas Tuchel he is worthy of a regular first team spot ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. TERRY MAKES CAREER PREDICTION ON GORDON

Chelsea legend John Terry has made a significant career prediction for young Everton winger Anthony Gordon on the back of his impressive display during the Merseyside Derby outing at Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. John Terry took to his Instagram story to shower praises on Gordon whom he says give everything for the blue shirt of Everton every week.

John Terry is certain that Gordon will have a big career as he disclosed that the winger is a quality player.

Gordon was undoubtedly one of the best players on the pitch at Anfield despite the fact that he ended the game on the losing side alongside his team thanks to the second half goals from Andy Robertson and substitute DivockOrigi. Origi and Robertson both scored to seal an important win for Liverpool against an Everton team who defended well throughout the game especially in the first half.

Everton fans are delighted that Gordon is a product of their Academy though this doesn’t mean that the young forward will stay at the club if they suffer relegation from the Premier League.

Gordon started the Liverpool game on the left-side of the Everton attack and he was soon given a yellow card for simulation when he went down theatrically under the non-existing challenge from Guinean midfielder Naby Keita. The young attacker served as the outlet to relieve the pressure on the Everton defence. He had a very strong penalty case in the second half when centre referee Stuart Atwell failed to point to the spot when he clashed with Cameroon defender Joel Matip in the Liverpool box. Everton will eventually rue the penalty decision not going their way after their hosts scored twice through Scottish defender Andy Robertson and Belgian substitute DivockOrigi to seal a 2-0 win and move within one point of leaders Manchester City in the Premier League.

Chelsea legend John Terry has revealed his next captain at the club if Cesar Azpilicueta leaves this summer. Spanish international Azpilicueta is the current Chelsea skipper, but his future at the club is in doubt as he has a few months left on his current contract. Also, Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona want to tempt him to return to his native Spain this summer. The Catalan giants are prepared to sign him on a free transfer.

John Terry spoke to Stadium Astro about Chelsea recently and he touched on the captaincy. In his opinion, Mason Mount would be a perfect fit for the role of the captain if Azpilicueta was to depart the West London club in the summer. John Terry believes that England international Mount has the ability to grab the game by the neck and that the Chelsea supporters would be able to relate to the midfielder since he’s one of them. Mount started his youth team career at Chelsea and he has been able to establish himself as one of the most important players in the team over the course of the last three seasons. Terry took the coaching role at Villa shortly after ending his playing career at the club.

John Terry was delighted that Villa were able to pull off the signing of a quality player like Coutinho who has joined on loan from Spanish giants Barcelona until the end of the season. In addition, Aston Villa have the option to make the loan deal a permanent one in the summer.

Coutinho has been able to make an instant impact since returning to the Premier League last week Tuesday after a four-year absence. He was a Liverpool player before Catalan giants Barcelona snapped him up for £142m during the 2018 winter transfer window to make him the third most expensive player till date behind the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) duo of Neymar and KylianMbappe.

Brazil international Coutinho came off the bench for his Aston Villa debut at the weekend and he was able to score the goal that rescued a point for his new team. He spent 19 years in the Chelsea first team and has been without a coaching job since leaving Aston Villa at the start of this season. The Stamford Bridge favourite quit his role as the Villa assistant manager to concentrate on his managerial career.

Chelsea legend John Terry has not been able to bag a managerial job despite quitting his Villa role several months ago though he has been linked with a lot of vacant managerial jobs over the past months. In the absence of a managerial job, the 41-year-old has made the decision to return to West London in a part-time position. For his new role, Terry will mentor the Chelsea Academy players in addition to on-field coaching. The ex-Blues captain will combine the role with other commitments.

On the Chelsea return of John Terry, the club’s head of youth development Neil Bath said they are delighted to welcome their former skipper to the Cobham training ground and that he will coach and mentor the next generation of players at the club.

Bath went on to say that the experience that John Terry brings as a world-class player and an assistant manager in the English top flight would be invaluable for everyone at the club. According to him, John Terry would be a great mentor for the Chelsea players in addition to being a fantastic asset to the coaching staff at the club. The head of youth development at Chelsea went on to say that they can’t wait for Terry to start his new job.
