Frank Lampard was sacked in the middle of last seasonand German manager Thomas Tuchel was made the new manager afterwards. While the Ipswich Town job might not be appealing toLampard, his ex-Chelsea teammate John Terry is said to be keen on it.

John Terry was the assistant manager to Dean Smith at Aston Villa before he made the decision to step down from the role in the summer to pursue a managerial job. The ex-English national team central defender left the Villa job in the summer to concentrate on his managerial career and he has been linked with several managerial jobs since then. John Terry has been linked with the manager’s job at Villa on the back of the dismissal of Dean Smith as manager.

Dean Smith was the manager, while John Terry was the assistant manager as Villa gained promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs and also reached the Carabao Cup final in their first season back in the Premier League. In the second season back amongst the big boys of English football, Villa spent several months in the top half of the table before they eventually finished in 11th spot at the end of the season.

TERRY TIPPING CHELSEA FOR LEAGUE TITLE THIS SEASON

Aside from the support they are getting from their fans, Chelsea are also getting massive support from their legends who have so far been tipping them to win the league title this season having last done so a few years ago. The likes of Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole, and Ricardo Carvalho have already pushed the Blues and chosen them as their title favorites this season but they are not the only ones who have done that so far. Club legend John Terry has also joined the train and has now urged the Blues to do everything within their capacity to make sure that the league crown ends up at Stamford Bridge at the end of this new season.

Former club captain Terry claims that the Blues are only second to Manchester City in terms of squad depth but also added that since they already defeated the Cityzens some weeks ago to lift the UEFA Champions League title, then they are capable of winning the league this season. Terry said that the Blues already have a wealth of talented players in their squad and that the arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan this summer sums up the fact that they are indeed strong challengers for the title of this campaign.

The former captain hailed the impact of manager Thomas Tuchel in the team since his arrival and said that it is not a mistake that they have won both the Champions League and the Super Cup titles under the German manager and has credited it to hard work and presence of quality players in the squad.

Regardless of what Terry thinks, Chelsea do have to be wary of the two Manchester clubs who have also added players to their squad, without also forgetting Liverpool, regardless of the fact that they have so far not done much business in this summer’s transfer window.

TERRY SENDS MESSAGE TO SAKA, OTHERS

Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry has sent a message of encouragement in the way of England international Bukayo Saka and his teammates, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho after they were all subjected to racist comments on social media on the back of their missed penalties during the Euro 2020 final at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

John Terry sent encouraging messages to the three players via his Instagram Story. According to the Chelsea legend, Arsenal star Saka is one of the biggest and brightest talents. John Terry also praised Manchester United forward Rashford and his soon-to-be club colleague Sancho. Sancho is on the verge of completing a £73m move from German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United.

Saka, Rashford and Sancho all came off the bench against Italy during the Euro 2020 final. England and Italy had scored before the three attackers were subbed on. Saka came on for Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier in the second half shortly after Juventus centre back Leonardo Bonucci scored the lone goal for Italy, while Sancho and Rashford came on at the end of extra time.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw gave hosts England a dream start inside two minutes off the assist from the aforementioned Trippier and the Three Lions held on till the midpoint of the second half when Bonucci restored parity for the Italians thereby forcing extra time and penalty shootout when the two teams could not add to their tally. During penalty shootout, Italy were the first to blink after Torino striker Andrea Belotti missed their second spot kick before Rashford and Sancho missed the third and fourth England penalties. Italy led 3-2 into the final and fifth penalty taken by Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. Jorginho missed the chance to wrap up the shootout after his penalty was saved thus paving the way for Saka to send the shootout into sudden death. In the end, Saka also missed the fifth and final penalty to hand the Euro 2020 title to the Italians.

TERRY DREAMING OF CHELSEA JOB ONE DAY

Chelsea legend John Terry has revealed that he has the plan of managing his former club one day, but only after he must have gotten to a point where he would be deserving of the post. The former Chelsea and England international central defender is widely recognized as a top footballing legend for his contributions to the Blues and his country during his playing days and he is also known as one of the greatest ever defenders of his generation. Having joined Chelsea at a young age, he went on to develop himself and improve his game to the extent that he became the captain of the Blues and he earned the love and care of the fans as well.

The former defender retired from football years ago but he did not forget about the game. He instead decided to remain in the sport as he started his journey of obtaining his coaching badges. He joined Premier League side Aston Villa, his former club, where he signed up to work under Dean Smith as assistant manager in pursuit of experience and knowledge of the post. As soon as he joined Aston Villa’s coaching team, fans began making claims and spreading rumors that their former player was getting ready to return to the club one day and he has already confirmed those reports.

Terry said in a recent podcast that he still loves Stamford Bridge and that the club holds a special place in his heart. He further added that although he feels like it will take a long time, he would love to be named the Chelsea manager one day no matter how long he would have to wait for the job.

When asked if he would perform differently from his former teammate Lampard, Terry said he did not want to draw comparisons between himself and the former Chelsea manager, adding that it would be a disrespect to his achievements in management.
