Chelsea captain John Terry has praised his team-mates for their bravery, given the way they have made goal-line clearances in the last few matches.

Goal-line clearances have ensured that Chelsea remain in the hunt for the fourth position, which will ensure Champions League qualification for the next season. Given that the opportunity to win the title seems to have vanished after a poor start to the season, Andre Villas-Boas will be hoping that Chelsea can qualify for the Champions League before starting the rebuilding process.

In such a scenario, John Terry has identified the key areas, which have been the difference between Chelsea taking the points and losing them in the last few matches.

Chelsea have made last-ditch goal-line clearances in a number of matches recently. In the matches against Newcastle United, Tottenham, Portsmouth, and Aston Villa, Chelsea have been saved due to the last ditch goal-line clearances - John Terry almost injured himself in doing one such goal-line clearance against Portsmouth.

Even though Chelsea managed to win the match quite comfortably in the end by 4-0, John Terry says that the goal-line clearance was very much important in the prospect of Chelsea winning the match in the end. John Terry has not been the only defender to put this body on the line, as the likes of David Luiz and Ashley Cole have also been involved in goal-line clearances.

“Ashley Cole does the same and David Luiz the other side of me as well, and it was an important clearance, especially with the scoreline what it was [1-0 at the time]. But we all do it for each other and Petr Cech made a great save initially. I just managed to get behind him which as a youngster you are taught to do. You need that mentality if we’re going to make our way to the top of the table.”

If they can take this kind of form into Europe it might be worth making an online Champions League bet on Chelsea to make ti to the final again this season?
