A lot of football followers were stunned when Liverpool were beaten by lowly Burnley last week as the Clarets were able to stop the unbeaten run that the Reds had at Anfield.

One would have been forgiven to expect big teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and others to stop the unbeaten run but Burnley had other ideas. The Clarets secured an historic 1-0 win over Liverpool to end their run of 68 games without defeat.

Burnley striker Ashley Barnes was the recipient of the only goal of the game after he was successful with his spot kick in the last ten minutes of the game. The visitors were awarded a late penalty after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was adjudged to have fouled Ashley Barnes in the box. Liverpool had won 55 and drawn 13 of their last 68 league games at home.
Ex-Chelsea skipper John Terry responded to that stunning Liverpool result by posting a throwback of Jose Mourinho lifting the Premier League trophy on his official Instagram page with the caption that reminds everyone that Chelsea did a very good job with their record of 86 league games without defeat at home. Ironically, Liverpool were the team that stopped Chelsea from increasing that record. John Terry is now the assistant manager at Aston Villa and he was full of praise for the Chelsea team that set the 86-game unbeaten home run in the Premier League as captained by him. John Terry was the Blues skipper when the club set that record. John Terry pointed out that his Chelsea team was phenomenal as the current Liverpool team was not able to get to the record. Since the Burnley defeat, Liverpool have bounced back in the league with the 3-1 away win over Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham Hotspur players on Thursday.
