Chelsea captain John Terry has said that he wants the players to perform exceptionally well in the FA Cup final against Liverpool and win the cup for interim manager Roberto di Matteo.

The Italian has done an excellent job since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas midway through the season.

He has been able to lead the club to FA Cup final and Champions League final, while they have also been competent in the league as well. Even though it looks like Chelsea will miss out on the top four finish this season, Roberto di Matteo has to get a lot of credit for the way he has saved this season from imploding.

There have been many calls made by the Chelsea players for the appointment to be made permanent. Roberto di Matteo is in charge of the Chelsea team only till the end of the season, while the club are linked with the likes of José Mourinho and Guardiola. John Terry reckons that Roberto di Matteo will claim a huge stake when it comes to the permanent appointment if he wins the FA Cup final against Liverpool. Hence, he has called on for a massive performance from his players. Chelsea head into the match as the favourites to lift the trophy.

"To win [the cup] will put himself in a very good position. If we can do it with the added bonus that Robbie can get the job at the end, that'd be great. He's very passionate, he's Chelsea through and through, and that's certainly rubbed off on the players. He's obviously done very well in the league and all competitions to get us where we are today. They've rested a few players in the week, very much like ourselves," said John Terry ahead of the FA Cup final.
